Description

Neutral pH flushing for heating systems – Cleaner F3 Express Fernox 400 ml Description:

Cleaner F3 is an effective, universal, neutral pH, non-foaming cleaner that removes sludge, scale and debris from existing heating systems to restore heating efficiency and eliminate boiler noise. When commissioning new systems in accordance with local regulations, Cleaner F3 is ideal for removing flux residues and other installation debris to help prolong boiler life and system efficiency. The Fernox Express range uses Barrier Pressure Pack technology (barrier pressure pack) and a compressed air propellant to introduce the product into the system; it is non-flammable. The propellant (compressed air) is not mixed with the active product, therefore there is no risk of air entering the system which could accelerate the risk of corrosion in the future.

Fast and convenient to use 30 second dose no need to drain the system water.

Neutral and universal cleaner for pre-commissioning of new and existing heating systems

When used in combination with Protector F1, gas savings of up to 15% can be achieved every time the space is heated

One 400 ml can, 100% recyclable, treats up to 130 litres of system water (16 single radiators) and the equivalent of 250 m² of underfloor heating.

Compatible with all metals and materials, including aluminium

Neutral pH, non-hazardous and environmentally friendly formulation add via radiator, towel rail, filling loop or TF1 System Filter

Application: Cleaner F3 Express protects large systems (130 litres or up to 16 single radiators), and can be introduced directly through a radiator bleed point, the system filling loop, or through a TF1 Filter using the appropriate adapter supplied with the product. Fernox Express takes less than 30 seconds to dose without draining the system, thereby reducing time on site. If dosing through a TF1 Filter, remove any contaminants collected in the filter before applying the product. An additional or repeat dose of Cleaner F3 Express may be required for larger systems, or if the system is highly contaminated.

Fernox Cleaner F3 Express can also be used in conjunction with a powerflushing unit. In this case, refer to the manufacturers instructions for the unit. When using Cleaner F3 Express with a powerflushing unit, cleaning should be completed within one hour. Use dynamic flushing with mains water until the water runs clear, checking total dissolved solids (TDS) with a TDS meter to ensure a complete flush. Refill the system adding the appropriate Fernox Protector for long-term protection against corrosion and scale. For single feed indirect tanks, e.g. Primatic or similar models, potable water chemicals must be used.

First drain the entire system and refill with clean water. For best results it should be possible to drain the entire system, including gravity-fed radiators if fitted. For this purpose, it would be preferable to temporarily install full-bore gate valves with hose connectors. Motorised and thermostatic control valves must be set so that no section of the system can close during cleaning or flushing operations. Discharges must be disposed of via foul water drainage, not surface water drainage. Fernox Cleaner F3 Express should be added via the feed and expansion tank in open-vented systems. In sealed systems, add via a radiator using a Fernox Injector. When cleaning systems already in use, sludge and debris should disperse within one hour at normal operating temperature. However, to remove hardened iron oxide deposits and limescale, the cleaning time can be extended up to one week using the normal heating cycle. If a radiator still has a cold spot after one hour, increase flow through the radiator by closing the valves on other radiators.

In some cases it may be necessary to apply an additional or repeat dose of Cleaner F3 Express. Drain and flush the system completely to remove chemical cleaners and residues. It will likely be necessary to change the water completely at least three times. This is a crucial step in the cleaning process and must be carried out correctly. Use a flush water meter, e.g. Fernox TDS, to ensure the level of removed dissolved solids is satisfactory.

System flushing is complete when the system water value is within 10% of the mains water value. A difference greater than 10% indicates that there are still high levels of residues in the system, therefore further flushing is required. Residues not removed promote corrosion and negate the cleaning operations.
